A 63-year-old man with advanced Lung cancer experienced significant relief from severe symptoms after receiving expert care at TGH Onco Life Cancer Centre. He had been struggling with breathlessness, persistent cough, and widespread swelling, which had severely limited his ability to perform daily activities. Importantly, the patient required urgent treatment, as delays could have resulted in life-threatening complications. Locally advanced lung cancers can obstruct airways, reduce oxygen levels, and compress major blood vessels. Precision-Based Radiation Therapy Delivers Results

The medical team treated the patient using Volumetric Modulated Arc Therapy (VMAT), an advanced radiation technique. They delivered 40 Gray of radiation in 16 fractions through a 360-degree rotating arc method. This approach enabled precise targeting of the tumor while protecting surrounding vital organs such as the heart, lungs, and major blood vessels.

Significant Clinical Improvement Observed

As a result, the patient responded remarkably well to the treatment. He experienced complete relief from breathlessness, cough, and swelling. Additionally, follow-up scans showed a noticeable reduction in tumor size after completing 16 sessions.
