Vedanta Aluminium has launched a first-of-its-kind 24×7 telemedicine facility in Lanjigarh in partnership with Tata 1mg. The initiative aims to improve access to specialist healthcare services for communities living in remote villages across the region.
Initiative to Improve Access to Specialist Healthcare
Through the new telemedicine facility, residents of remote tribal and rural areas will gain easier access to timely medical consultations without the need for long-distance travel.
As part of the initiative, the company has established a dedicated telemedicine room at the Vedanta Lanjigarh Hospital to facilitate assisted consultations. In addition, beneficiaries can use the Tata 1mg app to access free audio and video consultations with nearly 30 specialist and super-specialist doctors.
Consequently, patients will be able to seek expert medical guidance from their villages, significantly reducing travel time and healthcare accessibility challenges.
Over 70,000 People Across Remote Villages Expected to Benefit
As reported by The Hindu BusinessLine, the service is expected to benefit more than 70,000 people across nearly 70 remote villages in Kalahandi district and adjoining regions.
Officials stated that the initiative will strengthen last-mile healthcare delivery and support improved health outcomes in underserved communities.
Odisha Health Minister Welcomes the Initiative
Dr. Mukesh Mahaling, Minister of Health and Family Welfare, Government of Odisha, said the initiative marks an important step towards improving healthcare access in remote parts of the state.
