Doctors at Yashoda Hospitals successfully treated a 58-year-old patient suffering from multiple life-threatening complications, demonstrating the hospital’s advanced critical care capabilities and multidisciplinary expertise.
Patient Admitted in Critical Condition
The patient, Mr. Mogili Velpula from Karimnagar district, arrived at the hospital in a critical state with high-grade fever, severe breathlessness, low blood pressure, and reduced urine output. Earlier, another hospital had referred him to Yashoda Hospitals while he was on oxygen and vasopressor support.
Upon admission, doctors identified severe respiratory distress and dangerously low oxygen levels. Consequently, the Critical Care team immediately initiated advanced life-saving treatment, including mechanical ventilation, broad-spectrum antibiotics, and intensive ICU monitoring.
Doctors Diagnose Multi-Organ Failure
Further investigations revealed that the patient was suffering from acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS), severe cardiac dysfunction caused by suspected viral myocarditis, and acute kidney injury that required hemodiafiltration (HDF).
Despite the complexity of the condition, the medical team adopted a comprehensive protocol-driven treatment plan. The doctors used lung-protective ventilation, prone positioning, and renal support therapy to stabilize the patient. As per the press release, the multidisciplinary team closely monitored every organ system to ensure timely intervention and recovery.
Additionally, doctors performed a coronary angiogram, which ruled out any blockages in the heart and confirmed the diagnosis of viral myocarditis.
Timely ICU Intervention Ensures Recovery
With continuous critical care and timely interventions, the patient gradually responded to treatment. His oxygen levels stabilized, kidney function improved, platelet counts normalized, and cardiac function recovered significantly.
Subsequently, the medical team successfully weaned him off ventilator and vasopressor support. After extubation and mobilization, the patient continued to recover steadily and was later discharged in stable condition.
Doctors Highlight Importance of Early Critical Care
Commenting on the case, Dr. Venkat Raman Kola, Clinical Director, Department of Critical Care Medicine, said, “This was a highly complex case involving simultaneous failure of multiple organ systems. Early recognition, aggressive supportive care, and a coordinated multidisciplinary approach were key to saving the patient. Conditions like sepsis and viral myocarditis can deteriorate rapidly, but with timely ICU interventions, even critically ill patients can recover well.”
