Five Egg-Sized Giant Bladder Stones Successfully Removed at KIMS ICON Hospital

Doctors at KIMS ICON Hospital successfully removed five giant bladder stones, each nearly the size of a hen’s egg, from a 50-year-old man who had been suffering from severe urinary problems for several years.

Patient Suffered From Multiple Urinary Complications

Dr. Sandeep Maheswara Reddy Kallam, Consultant Urologist, Laparoscopic Uro-Oncologist, and Andrologist, said the patient visited the hospital with complaints of severe lower abdominal pain, burning sensation during urination, difficulty in passing urine, frequent urination, and recurrent urinary tract infections.

Subsequently, doctors conducted diagnostic scans and other medical tests, which revealed multiple massive stones in the urinary bladder. Although bladder and kidney stones are commonly seen in clinical practice, the unusually large size of these stones surprised the medical team.

Doctors Perform Specialized Surgery

Considering both the size and number of the stones, the medical team carefully planned a specialized surgical procedure. As per the press release, doctors successfully removed all five stones and provided immediate relief to the patient.

Following the surgery, the patient recovered well and returned to a normal condition. Doctors confirmed that he would now be able to pass urine without difficulty.

Doctors Highlight Causes and Risks of Bladder Stones

Dr. Sandeep explained that bladder stones usually develop due to urinary obstruction, incomplete emptying of the bladder, recurrent infections, and enlargement of the prostate gland.

Moreover, he warned that delaying treatment could lead to repeated infections, bleeding, complete blockage of urine flow, bladder damage, and even kidney-related complications.

Early Medical Attention Is Important

Doctors advised people experiencing symptoms such as pain during urination, blood in urine, recurrent urinary infections, or difficulty in passing urine to consult a urologist without delay.

The successful surgery once again highlighted the advanced urology services and experienced medical team at KIMS ICON Hospital. In addition, doctors advised the patient to maintain proper hydration, follow dietary precautions, and undergo regular medical check-ups to prevent the recurrence of bladder stones in the future.
