Fischer Medical Ventures Ltd (FMV) has launched a transformative public-private initiative in collaboration with the City of Jember, Indonesia. Through this partnership, FMV will deploy multiple portable, AI-enabled digital X-ray systems to support the city’s ambitious mission: “Free Jember from Tuberculosis (TB) by 2026”. This initiative also reinforces FMV’s commitment to helping Indonesia meet its national goal of eradicating TB by 2030.

A Strategic CSR Initiative with National Impact

As per the press release, this program is more than a corporate social responsibility effort for FMV—it is a strategic entry into Indonesia’s growing public health sector. With a population of over 280 million, Indonesia presents significant opportunities, especially in the fight against TB, a life-threatening disease if not diagnosed and treated in time.

Despite efforts, Indonesia remains among the top three countries with the highest TB burden, alongside India and China. One of the biggest hurdles is the lack of access to early detection. For patients in remote areas—mountain villages or coastal communities—getting to the nearest diagnostic center involves long waits and physically demanding travel. Sadly, many never make it.

Empowering Communities with Accessible Diagnostics

Backed by Regent Muhammad Fawait of Jember, this partnership places the people of Jember at its core. FMV will deliver multiple AI-powered portable X-ray units, along with training programs and a robust “Trace, Test, Track” system. The goal: ensure every citizen receives early detection, timely treatment, and consistent care.

This initiative represents a game-changer in a country where TB remains the fourth leading cause of death. FMV’s innovative solution is already beginning to transform lives—one diagnosis, one patient, and one city at a time—with plans to scale across other regions.

Technology That Goes Where the People Are

FMV’s handheld X-ray system is designed for agility, accessibility, and accuracy. Weighing under 3 kg, the device replaces bulky 250 kg machines that are impractical in rural or inaccessible settings. Its mobility allows healthcare workers to reach patients in remote corners—from hilly terrains to isolated islands—enabling faster screening and quicker intervention.

But it’s not just the size that makes this device revolutionary. The built-in AI diagnostic engine can detect TB markers in chest X-rays on the spot. This drastically reduces the need for unnecessary sample collection, shortens the diagnostic timeline, and allows immediate decision-making at the point of care—saving both time and lives.

Government Support and National Recognition

Indonesia’s Minister of Health, Budi Gunadi Sadikin, praised the initiative:
“It’s excellent that the Regent of Jember is implementing President Prabowo’s Quick Win Program for Tuberculosis Eradication through the locally-led initiative ‘JEMBER TB-Free 2026.’ I fully support this and hope it becomes a model for other cities and districts.”

This endorsement underlines the alignment of FMV’s program with national health strategies and its potential to be replicated across the country.

Building Trust, Creating Opportunity

Leading this impactful project, Ravindran Govindan, Executive Chairman & MD of FMV, emphasized the long-term vision:
“When we support healthier communities, we’re not only doing what is right—we’re laying the foundation for sustainable growth and trust. For our shareholders, this marks a strategic entry into a high-potential public sector, fostering future procurement opportunities.”

A New Chapter in Indonesia’s TB Response

Indonesia has made commendable progress in TB detection and treatment since 2020. However, challenges such as drug-resistant TB, underreporting in private sectors, and gaps in surveillance persist. FMV’s partnership with Jember aims to bridge these gaps by taking healthcare directly to the people who need it most.

Hope for Families, Schools, and Workers

For children missing school, workers losing livelihoods, and families suffering in silence, this initiative offers more than technology—it offers hope. It reinforces the belief that when corporations stand with communities, lasting change is not just possible—it’s inevitable.

As Indonesia moves forward in its fight against TB, FMV stands shoulder-to-shoulder with its citizens—one step, one life, one cure at a time. FMV is helping build a healthier, stronger Indonesia. It does so through accessible diagnostics, community-centered care, and compassionate partnerships.
