Two nurses in Kerala sprang into action after spotting a man suffering a heart attack in the middle of a traffic jam, helping save his life with timely CPR.
The incident took place near Kalady Bridge on MC Road in Ernakulam district. The 43-year-old man, identified as Sinoj, was driving himself to a hospital after experiencing severe chest pain. However, traffic came to a standstill, and he collapsed behind the wheel before he could reach medical help.
Nurses Rush to Help
Anjali Baiju, a staff nurse at LF Hospital in Angamaly, and Ardra Raj, a nursing student from Bengaluru, were travelling on a KSRTC bus when they noticed people gathering around the stranded car. They immediately got off the bus, reached the vehicle, and began performing cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR).
As per Gulf News, the two continued administering CPR while the patient was being transported to a hospital in Angamaly, helping keep him stable until doctors took over.
Community Support Aids Rescue
Meanwhile, local residents also stepped in. A passerby took control of the car, while others cleared traffic and helped arrange an ambulance, ensuring the victim reached the hospital without further delay.
Doctors later found a blocked coronary artery and performed an emergency angioplasty. The man showed signs of recovery after arriving at the hospital and is expected to receive further treatment at a higher medical centre.
The nurses’ swift response, along with the support of bystanders, has earned widespread praise for demonstrating how timely action and teamwork can save lives.
