Sankara Eye Foundation India Sets Asia Book of Records Milestone for Maximum Free Eye Surgeries

Sankara Eye Foundation India has earned recognition from the Asia Book of Records for conducting the maximum number of free eye surgeries under a single vision programme by an organization. The achievement marks a major milestone in the foundation’s mission to eliminate avoidable blindness across India.

Nearly 30 Lakh Patients Receive Free Eye Care

Between March 2004 and March 31, 2026, the foundation provided free eye care services to nearly 30 lakh patients through its large-scale humanitarian initiatives. As a result, the organization restored vision and improved the quality of life for underserved communities across the country.

The initiative focused on making quality eye care accessible to everyone, regardless of socio-economic background. Moreover, the programme aimed to encourage healthcare institutions and organizations to undertake similar impactful initiatives.

As per the press release, the foundation has consistently expanded its reach through community-focused healthcare programmes and large-scale outreach activities.

Strong Nationwide Network Drives Impact

Founded on the principles of compassionate and affordable healthcare, Sankara Eye Foundation India now operates a robust network of eye hospitals and outreach centres across the country. Currently, the organization performs nearly 1,000 eye surgeries every day through its 14 locations spread across 10 states.

Founder Highlights Mission to Eliminate Curable Blindness

Commenting on the achievement, Dr. R. V. The Asia Book of Records is a prestigious platform that brings together record holders from leading national record books, including the India Book of Records, Vietnam Book of Records, Indo-China Book of Records, Laos Book of Records, and Nepal Book of Records. The organization currently maintains a database of more than 40,000 record entries and follows internationally recognized verification protocols.
