Sarala Birla University (SBU) is taking a decisive step to transform healthcare education. The Mahadevi Birla Institute of Nursing and Clinical Technology at SBU will soon host Eastern India’s first Center of Excellence for Immersive Nursing Experience, in partnership with MediSim VR. This landmark initiative will pioneer the integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Virtual Reality (VR) into nursing education, creating a future-ready, globally competitive healthcare workforce.

Transforming Nursing Education Through Immersive Technologies

As per the press release, the Centre will serve as a first-of-its-kind VR hub in Jharkhand and Eastern India. By leveraging AI- and VR-powered simulation training, nursing students will rapidly improve clinical competence, decision-making skills, and patient interactions. This hands-on learning approach will significantly shorten the learning curve and prepare students for real-world healthcare challenges.

Building on NEP 2020’s Vision

This initiative aligns with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, which emphasizes the adoption of frontier technologies to create world-class, future-ready education systems. SBU is embedding immersive learning at the institutional level. This approach helps accelerate India’s rise as a global leader in healthcare innovation.

A Milestone Announcement

The announcement follows a breakthrough seminar hosted by MediSim VR at SBU. During the session, the Vice Chancellor, nursing leadership, faculty, and students experienced first-hand how immersive technologies can redefine healthcare training. Following the seminar, the university’s leadership gave an overwhelming nod of approval and committed to signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to establish the Centre on campus.
