Tata Memorial Centre (TMC), a grant-in-aid institution under the Department of Atomic Energy, Government of India, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with GE HealthCare Technologies. GE HealthCare, a global innovator in medical technology, pharmaceutical diagnostics, and digital solutions, will serve as the technology partner, while TMC will act as the clinical oncology partner.

Establishing a Centre for Cancer Research and Innovation

As part of this strategic collaboration, the two institutions will establish a Cancer Research & Innovation Centre. To steer this initiative, they will form a Joint Working Group tasked with identifying key project areas and developing a comprehensive roadmap for the next five years. This partnership aims to drive clinical research and academic collaborations in oncology.

Addressing the Rising Cancer Burden in India

Currently, cancer affects about 100 out of every 100,000 individuals in India. The Cancer Registry Program projects a 12.8% rise in cases by 2025 compared to 2020. These alarming figures underscore the urgent need for AI-enabled, precision-driven approaches to cancer care.
