Tripura Secures ₹140 Crore for New Ayurveda and Homoeopathy Medical Colleges

Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha announced on Tuesday that the central government has sanctioned ₹140 crore for the establishment of an Ayurveda Medical College and a Homoeopathy Medical College in the state. This decision marks a significant expansion of healthcare education in the northeastern region, which currently has three medical colleges, including the Agartala Government Medical College.

Sharing the update on Facebook, the Chief Minister wrote, “The Ministry of Ayush, Government of India has sanctioned ₹140 crore for establishing Ayurveda Medical College and Homoeopathy Medical College in Tripura.” The announcement comes at a time when demand for specialised medical education has been steadily rising across the state.

Roadmap Finalised to Launch Colleges Soon

According to Saha, a high-level meeting was convened to determine the implementation strategy. The discussion focused on expediting preparations so that both colleges can begin functioning from the next academic session. Senior officials reviewed infrastructure requirements and outlined the initial steps to ensure timely progress.
