World Health Day 2026: Standing with Science for Better Health

World Health Day 2026, observed on 7 April, calls on people worldwide to stand with science under the theme “Together for health. Stand with science.” The initiative marks the launch of a year-long campaign celebrating the role of scientific research and collaboration in protecting the health of people, animals, plants, and the planet.

Importantly, the campaign emphasises the One Health approach, which recognises the interconnectedness of human, animal, and environmental health. Through scientific innovation and global cooperation, healthcare systems can better address emerging health challenges and translate evidence into action.

Experts Emphasise Evidence-Based Healthcare

Healthcare professionals stress that science remains the foundation of modern medicine.

Dr. Jinendra K Jain, Consultant Diabetologist and Physician at Wockhardt Hospitals, Mira Road, said,

“Science is the backbone of modern medicine. Evidence-based treatment not only helps patients recover faster but also prevents complications and improves quality of life. On this World Health Day, the message is clear that healthcare decisions must be guided by science, and society must work together to fight lifestyle diseases, infections, and emerging health threats.”

Similarly, Dr. Chirag Shah, Physician and Internal Medicine Expert from Apex Group of Hospitals, Mumbai, highlighted the importance of preventive care.

“Prevention is always better than cure, but prevention must be guided by science. Regular health check-ups, vaccination, early diagnosis, and timely treatment can prevent many serious health complications. People must avoid misinformation and rely on qualified medical professionals and scientific guidance for their health decisions.”

Innovation Must Reach Everyone

Dr. Sudhir Srivastava, Cardiologist, Robotic Surgeon, and Founder, Chairman and CEO of SS Innovations, emphasised the importance of making advanced healthcare accessible.

“Health is not a privilege bestowed upon the fortunate. It is a right that belongs to every human being, regardless of the state of birth or income. Every life lost to inaccessible care is not simply a tragedy; it is a failure of our collective imagination. Innovation without inclusion is incomplete. True progress in healthcare is measured by the number of lives our machines reach and transform. We built the SSI Mantra to serve the world, to carry the precision of the finest surgeon into every hospital, every district, every community that needs it most. On this World Health Day, I renew my commitment to decentralize excellence and make the impossible accessible. Quality healthcare is not a luxury. It is a birthright. And we will not rest until the world treats it as one, for everyone, everywhere.”
