District Hospital, Dimapur has become Nagaland’s first fully digital health model facility under the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM). The Commissioner and Secretary to the Government of Nagaland and State Mission Director of ABDM, Department of Health and Family Welfare, Anoop Khinchi, inaugurated the End-to-End Model Facility and launched the Scan & Share feature today.
State Marks a Major Leap in Digital Healthcare
During the launch, Khinchi described the initiative as a pivotal milestone in Nagaland’s journey toward strengthening healthcare delivery. He emphasised that the state is not only adopting advanced technology but also reinforcing its commitment to transparency, efficiency, and dignity in healthcare services.
He noted that the End-to-End Model Facility will serve as a benchmark by combining modern infrastructure, digital tools, and compassionate patient care.
Scan & Share Feature Enhances Patient Experience
As reported by morungexpress, Khinchi highlighted the transformative potential of the newly introduced Scan & Share feature. This system enables patients to instantly share their health records with doctors through a quick QR scan, ensuring faster, safer, and more coordinated treatment. As a result, patients can expect “less waiting, less paperwork, and more time for what truly matters—care, healing, and hope.”
ABHA Becomes the Foundation of Digital Health Access
Explaining the core of this digital transformation, Khinchi underscored the importance of the Ayushman Bharat Health Account (ABHA). With each citizen receiving a unique digital health ID, ABHA ensures secure and seamless access to one’s health records anytime, anywhere. He described ABHA as “the key that unlocks a truly connected healthcare system for all.”
Following Dimapur, Tuensang will be the next district to adopt this model, with further rollouts scheduled daily across Nagaland.
Citizens Encouraged to Enroll for ABHA
During a media interaction, Dr. Nyan Kikon, State Nodal Officer for ABDM Nagaland, urged citizens to actively register for ABHA. He noted that Nagaland has already reached nearly 50% saturation in ABHA generation out of 15.7 lakh Aadhaar holders.
He explained that the ABHA Personal Health Record (PHR) app enables individuals to securely store and manage their health data. To support this, assistance counters will soon be established in district hospitals.
User-Friendly Digital Platforms for Health Records
Drawing parallels with familiar digital payment apps like Google Pay and Paytm, Dr. Kikon said that multiple PHR applications are available for Android and iOS users. Individuals can choose any preferred app to link their ABHA number and access their records.
He also outlined the major components of ABDM, including the ABHA digital identity, the Healthcare Professional Registry, the Health Facility Registry, and the ABHA mobile app. These components enable seamless management of personal health information.
Dimapur to Pilot Comprehensive Digital Patient Services
Dimapur District Hospital, Nagaland’s first digital model facility, will fully digitise patient services. This includes ABHA-linked records and smooth data exchange through the Unified Health Interface. The initiative ensures patient privacy and enables on-the-spot ABHA creation. It also integrates schemes like PM-JAY and introduces QR-based systems for quick registration and payments.
PHR App Puts Health Records in Patients’ Hands
Dr. Kikon stressed that once individuals create an ABHA ID, the PHR app becomes essential for accessing their linked digital health records. He assured that dedicated staff at registration counters will guide anyone unfamiliar with digital processes.
QR-Based Registration Streamlines Hospital Visit
Patients can scan the hospital’s QR code using any ABDM-enabled app to share verified demographic details and receive a digital token. This allows them to wait comfortably until their turn appears on the display board. They need to visit the counter only for payment and to collect the OPD slip indicating their designated specialist.
