Kottayam, November 6, 2026: Ahead of World Diabetes Day on November 14, HINDLABS Clinical Laboratory, an initiative of HLL Lifecare Limited, a Government of India enterprise under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, is offering diabetes testing at concessional rates at its Gandhinagar centre in Kottayam. The initiative aims to encourage early diabetes detection and support affordable, regular monitoring.
HbA1c Test Available at Reduced Rates
As part of the initiative, HINDLABS is offering the HbA1c test using the High-Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC) method for ₹280, compared with the indicative market price of ₹500.
The HbA1c test measures average blood glucose levels over the previous two to three months, helping individuals and healthcare professionals assess long-term blood sugar control.
Affordable Testing to Encourage Early Diabetes Detection
The initiative aligns with this year’s World Diabetes Day theme, “Early action on diabetes”, which highlights the importance of timely diagnosis and access to healthcare.
Furthermore, affordable testing can help reduce the financial burden on people who require regular diabetes monitoring. By offering HbA1c testing at concessional rates, HINDLABS aims to make essential diagnostic services more accessible to the community.
HINDLABS Laboratory Offers Comprehensive Diagnostic Services
Located opposite the Casualty Gate of Government Medical College Hospital in Kottayam, the HINDLABS Clinical Laboratory has been operational since March 21, 2025.
In addition to diabetes testing, the centre offers a range of diagnostic services, including routine biochemistry, haematology, clinical pathology and specialised hormone tests. Depending on the test, its services are priced approximately 40–60% lower than prevailing market rates.
Advanced Equipment and Quality Testing Facilities
The laboratory uses automated analysers connected to its Laboratory Information System (LIS) to minimise manual errors and support efficient testing. Experienced laboratory technicians and a biochemist conduct the tests under the technical supervision of a pathologist.
The centre operates every day, including Sundays, from 6:30 am to 7:30 pm, ensuring convenient access to diagnostic services. It is also part of HINDLABS’ nationwide network of approximately 230 centres. For enquiries, individuals can contact 9188913776.
As per the company press release, HINDLABS aims to strengthen access to affordable diagnostic services and encourage early detection and regular monitoring of diabetes as part of its World Diabetes Day initiative.
